Paper Conservation – A poster of Was Euch Beliebt (printed in 1836)

in the morning

i am about to wake up.  eyes are still closed and my mind is half awake. for that moment, the sorrow distracts me the most. the gut smarts and the heart aches. something severe inside of me is in tears. i writhe in the bed till my mind gets up completely.

i look at myself in a mirror for a few minute while brushing teeth. ‘I had a sore dream.’ i think dryly as possible. I roll a scarf around the neck and grab my stuff. it’s time to get out of the house and to walk for an hour. can’t wait.

it’s fresh. the air turns into a handful of cold wind and touches my cheeks. it seems like cold hands stroking my face to reduce my bad fever. i feel cold and start walking. it slowly gets warmer. i unroll the scarf. still chills but that’s ok. i am going to get warmer anyway. let’s enjoy the freshness.

the river, grass, trees… start to grow on me. shall i look around and see the changes the nature made since yesterday. it is beautiful. ‘i wish i could change like this.’ a dog that enjoys his walk as well comes to me and wags his tail. i pet him for seconds. ‘hey sweetie. thank you for liking me first thing in the morning.’

i realise soon after getting to the cafe. ‘ya. i really had a sore dream but that’s fine.’

Let’s be honest

i thought about it so many times but wasn’t sure that my theory was going somewhere right.

the link below will lead you to a talk by dr. jonathan ashley-smith at the iic conference 1994, ‘preventive conservation: practice, theory and research’ in ottawa, canada.

it is a food for thought. at least, to me.
